The sensation is perfect: DEGERenergie renders energy customers independent of the public grid. The global market leader for solar tracking systems, DEGERenergie combines its tried and tested MLD technology with a new storage solution suitable for everyday use: a battery management system. The innovative end-to-end solution will celebrate its world premiere at Intersolar Europe in Munich.
More than one year after Fukushima, DEGERenergie provides consumers appealing options for the turnaround of nuclear power plants to renewable energy. "If you are really interested in green energy, you should not wait until the large energy suppliers and politicians have finally reached a conclusion that will first of all serve the interests of the industry and lead to higher electricity prices," explains Artur Deger, founder and CEO of DEGERenergie. Reason enough for the Swabian inventor, with keen sense of economic efficiency and feasibility, to develop a system capable of supplying an entire family home with electricity for one year while simultaneously creating energy surplus at the same time. As expected, the results are favorable. The system's prototype has been operational, without problem, since fall 2011. DEGERenergie will debut its market-ready solution at Intersolar Europe 2012. The first systems will be available in September, but pre-orders are being taken now.
Brilliantly simple
Like many brilliant ideas, this one is really simple: The system combines high-performance solar modules, DEGERenergie MLD "maximum light detection" tracking technology, and a battery storage management system. For storage solutions, DEGERenergie has coined the term MSS, "Maximum Solarpower Storage." Approximately 6,000 kilowatt hours can be generated each year by combining the MLD and MSS technology. "Thanks to our MLD tracking system, which always guarantees optimum energy yield from the current light conditions, we can generate about 45 percent more energy than fixed solar modules, regardless of the location. Therefore, DEGERenergie's solution requires less surface space for modules," asserts Artur Deger.
MLD technology a perfect fit
The DEGER tracker MLD technology enables the module surface to be precisely positioned to receive the maximum sunlight at all times, throughout the entire year. This technology is effective regardless of clouds, rain or fog. Another advantage of the DEGER tracking system is the balanced load profile: MLD tracking systems evenly generate electricity the entire day. Fixed systems on the other hand, peak around noon, yielding less in the morning and afternoon when normal households have consumption peaks, thereby providing less electricity than what is consumed. MLD systems, however, provide sufficient solar energy for direct consumption without the continuous need for batteries.
Additionally, batteries that serve as energy buffers can be recharged much gentler with even loads than with voltage peaks. For this reason, the system needs fewer, smaller batteries and provides a longer service life. As a rule of thumb, MLD tracking technology saves around 30 percent battery capacity. "All these aspects have a positive effect on the economic efficiency," says Artur Deger.
Maintenance and service included
The real sensation is: The fully functional end-to-end system (including installation) costs around 25,000 Euros. "Based on this, our customers can estimate their electricity price for the next 25 years on today's level," proclaims the DEGERenergie CEO. "Plus, they make themselves independent from energy suppliers and -- with every price increase they save more money from year to year." The end-to-end system consists of: the system itself, financing, maintenance and servicing in this "all-inclusive" package.
DEGERenergie offers a "care-free" package for the duration of 25 years. "With this package, we take responsibility for the all-round maintenance of the system and make sure that it works perfectly for 25 years, including costs for spare parts," says Mr. Deger. The innovative DEGERenergie end-to-end solution will be available in Germany starting September 2012.
DEGERenergie is the global market leader for solar tracking systems. Worldwide, more than 47,000 DEGERenergie systems are installed in 46 countries. The company is represented in Spain, Greece and North America with its own subsidiaries, and cooperates with local distribution and service partners in many countries worldwide. The patented DEGERenergie Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology makes it possible to improve the energy yield of solar power plants by an average of 45 percent compared to fixed systems.
