Solar Projects Unpopular With Residents

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - Some residents in the town of Rutland, Vermont, are unhappy about a proposed 45,000-panel solar project.

The project by a company called ECOS Energy would be much bigger and only 132 feet away from another proposed solar farm, which has a pending application before the state Public Service Board.

The Rutland Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1smu6dP) neighbors protested the smaller project on the grounds that no amount of screening would shield the solar array from hillside views. They are even angrier about the new proposal, saying it will completely transform the view.

The latest proposal was just introduced last week. Town Administrator Joseph Zingale says it’s three times bigger than the smaller one and would call for clearing an entire wooded area.
