The newly constructed carports at the City of Industry’s Metrolink station won’t just provide shade for commuters to park their cars out of the hot Inland sun.
The covers also will serve as a source of electricity. Industry officials, and the city’s partners, Friday morning unveiled an $11 million solar carport project at the South Brea Canyon Road station.
Mayor David Perez praised the various partners for teaming up with city to get the project done, including the South Coast Air Quality Management District, which provided the city with a $2 million grant, Foothill Transit, Oltman Construction, and Southern California Edison.
